THE YEAR WE COULDN'T BELIEVE

2004's almost over, and honestly?

I don't even know where to start.

This year wasn't soft.

It was glitter bombs, loud beats, and pure chaos wrapped in style โœจ

We lived loud, dreamed bigger, and broke every rule we could find.

Not everyone understood.

But we didn't need them to.

THE YEAR WE DID THE MOST

Fashion was doing the most โ€ผ๏ธ

Layered tanks. Raccoon eyeliner. Juicy tracksuits. Belts that served zero purpose.

Trucker hats started fading but low-rise jeans? Still holding on for dear life ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Every MySpace girl had the same vibe:

Side bangs. Flash photography. Mirror pics with lyrics in the caption ๐Ÿ’‹

Boys in polos with popped collars were multiplying and no one could stop it.

THE YEAR WE DANCED

Ashlee Simpson had a crazy year

Her album dropped, she gave us "Pieces of Me," and then came SNL.

The lip sync. The jig. The Internet exploded.

She got dragged, sureโ€”but that song still hits. I don't care what anyone says.

Britney got married. Twice. โœŒ๏ธ

Once for 55 hours in Vegas and again to Kevin Federline (who tf??) later in the year. The tabloids had a field day.

But she also gave us "Everytime"โ€”and it felt like a heartbreak we weren't ready for ๐Ÿ’”

Usher dominated everything.

Confessions dropped and every track was a hit. "Yeah!" was the party anthem, but "Burn"? That was for the car rides home when you were in your feelings ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Gwen Stefani finally went solo and turned every mall into a runway.

Love. Angel. Music. Baby. was everywhere.

"Rich Girl" on repeat. Harajuku Girls in every teen magazine.

And Kanye? He changed the game.

The College Dropout didn't just go hardโ€”it felt like something new. "Jesus Walks" wasn't just music. It was a moment. ๐Ÿ™

THE YEAR THAT WAS SO FETCH

Mean Girls basically rewrote the teenage rulebook ๐Ÿ’…

Tina Fey made the most quotable movie ever.

"You can't sit with us." "So you agree? You think you're really pretty?"

Still saying them. Still not sorry ๐Ÿ™„

Napoleon Dynamite was weirdโ€”and kind of perfect.

Suddenly it was cool to be awkward. "Vote for Pedro" shirts everywhere. And people were actually eating tots as a personality trait ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The Notebook gave us Ryan + Rachel + That Rain Kiss = Emotional Devastation.

Also shoutout to Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, and Prisoner of Azkaban.

Sequels were eating this year ๐Ÿฟ

THE YEAR TV WENT OFF THE RAILS

The OC came back. More drama, more chaos.

Seth, Summer, Ryan, Marissaโ€”rich kids, bad decisions, perfect television ๐Ÿงก

Laguna Beach hit MTV and made high school look like a soap opera.

Beach houses, heartbreak, love triangles. Somehow all in HD ๐Ÿ๏ธ

Tyra lost it on America's Next Top Model and screamed "I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU" into reality TV history ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Desperate Housewives startedโ€”and it's already got our moms hooked.

Murder, gossip, perfectly manicured lawns. Yes please.

And Degrassi??

That episode with Jimmy getting shotโ€”still not over it ๐Ÿ’”

THE YEAR WE BECAME POP CULTURE

We weren't just watching pop cultureโ€”we were pop culture ๐Ÿ“ฒ

We cried over Britney.

We memorized Mean Girls quotes.

We styled our whole personality around our MySpace playlist ๐ŸŽง

And through all the drama, shade, and eyeliner smudgesโ€”we kind of found ourselves. In the chaos.

In the crushes. In the comments.

Tomorrow is 2005 ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿชฉ

And maybe we'll wear fewer belts over tank tops.

But probably not.
